A huge part of what we do here at Segera Mission is Community Development. But community development is more than just bringing resources into the community or developing infrastructure. True community development is about building up the people and resources already in the community to create sustainable and lasting change. That’s why in addition to meeting basic needs like access to clean water, we also provide:

  •  Community Investment Groups-local leaders work together using Micro-Credit to create opportunities for business startups, provide better housing, and create a disaster fund if/when drought or other natural disasters occur.

  • Communication Hub- since God has placed Segera in such a central location, we are able to partner with groups like the Kenyan Government to make sure the community gets real time information.

  • Food Assistance Program- through the Segera School we feed 325 students a day many of whom are orphans or battling AIDS. During times of famine this number can triple.

  • Widow Support- the lack of family support can make widows some of the most vulnerable and forgotten members of our community. That is why we set up check-in systems and allocate resources to ensure that our matriarchs are able to continue their legacy of loving their community.
