Due to the lack of nearby hospitals, one in eleven Kenyan women die giving birth making childbirth one of the most dangerous things you can do in Kenya. That is why Segera Mission seeks to give everyone in our community and in the surrounding province access to free, quality healthcare through the Segera Clinic. With the Segera Clinic being the only medical facility within 45 miles, over 1000 Kenyans a month come to the clinic by foot or motorcycle taxis for basic medical care, childbirth (with highly trained midwives), child vaccinations, and even hygiene education. Our onsite lab also helps curve deaths from treatable diseases by being able to conduct blood work and provide much needed diagnoses. The clinic also works with tribes and community elders to stop the practice of FGM or Female Genital Mutilation (a practice which has been completely stopped in our community). Every month we see:
